Context:
As part of the global digital transformation initiative at Air Liquide (a world leader in industrial gases operating in 75 countries), I contributed to the development of the new Unified Data Platform (UDP), which centralizes and secures data access for all entities across the group.
Key responsibilities and achievements:
- Data Platform Design & Extension: developed the new platform, including its AWS cloud infrastructure and fine-grained authorization management
- Backend Development & APIs: backend development (Python, FastAPI, Boto3, Pytest) for data ingestion, governance, and flow management. Built internal data exchange APIs and a governance API for assets in DataZone
- Data Governance & Lake House: maintained Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK) for the Lake House environment (Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, DataZone). Implemented a tagging system in LakeFormation with historization in DynamoDB and enhanced DataZone logs using EventBridge, Lambda, and CloudWatch
- API Gateway Management: defined, deployed, and managed authentication and permission policies for API Gateways using CloudFormation, CDK, Cognito, VPC, and IAM
- CI/CD Pipelines & Automation: created and maintained CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Docker, PyDoit, Poetry) for deployments, Docker images, and Python dependencies, automating manual processes

Key responsibilities and achievements:
- Developed a large-scale ELT pipeline processing several million records each month
- Automated financial data comparison and made results accessible to analysts
- Pioneered the implementation of dbt on Databricks with Delta Lake format — the first squad to deploy this solution at group level
- Created training materials on dbt/Databricks and supported other teams
- Set up CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, and DevOps templates for PySpark and Airflow
- Optimized data pipelines through Z-ordering, Spark shuffle reduction, Databricks autoscaling, and seamless integration of Delta, dbt, and Qlik
- Developed workarounds for technical constraints, such as the absence of a data rejection mechanism during ingestion
- Achieved concrete results: reduced errors, faster decision-making, and significantly fewer penalties
